Here’s what’s happening in Cork for Bike Week

On your bike!

This year’s Bike Week Cork is bound to be a wheelie great time. Okay, enough bike puns, we
promise.

With events taking place in both Cork City and County, there’s something for everyone and for all abilities. Bike Week Cork is coordinated by Cork Sports Partnership, Cork City Council, and Cork County Council and is part of the overall National Bike Week initiative.

Last year, there were over 260 events; this year will top that with 304 different events to choose from! Launched in 2009, National Bike Week aims to raise the profile of cycling as a healthy and fun mode of transport and physical activity.

Some of the events in the city include the ‘Bike Week Opening Night Midnight Cycle of Lights’ on Saturday the 11 th at 11:30pm to 1:30am, which is a slow and social bike parade with lights along the cycle lanes of the city centre.

Or, if you’d prefer something earlier in the day for your kids, how about the ‘Olympics Fun and Games Picnic’? A social picnic will be accompanied by fun bike games, such as a slow-race obstacle course. Other city events include ‘Coffee by Bike’, ‘Bike Week Islands of Cork History Cycle’, and ‘Bike Week Art Exhibition’.

If you’re in the county, keep an eye out for the ‘Cycle Freedom with Midleton Greenway Bikes & Bites’, the ‘Clonakilty Bicycle Photo Exhibition’, the ‘Mystery Buffet Cycle’ in Skibbereen, and more!
