All you need to know about the The Cork Proms 2024

the Cork Proms are back this summer with 3 different programmes of music

Always a crowd pleaser, The Cork Proms brings together musicians and performers from Cork and Ireland to play a mix of contemporary and classical music alongside the Cork Opera House Concert Orchestra.

From the 12th to the 20th of June, there’ll be all types of music to enjoy. The first two concerts, ‘Heyday – A Mixtape of Irish Rock & Pop’, will take place on Wednesday the 12th and Thursday the 13th of June.

The programme will feature orchestral arrangements of songs by Sinéad O’Connor, The Cranberries, The Pogues, Enya, Thin Lizzy, and more. Soloists Jack O’Rourke, MayKay, Lucia Evans, Laoise Leahy, and Niall McCabe will all perform with the concert orchestra throughout the night.

The second programme on offer this year is ‘New World Symphony and Rhapsody in Blue’,
which will take place on Sunday the 16 th of June. Curated by Cork pianist Gary Beecher, the
music in this performance will feature the works of Dvořák, Gershwin, and music inspired by
America. Beecher will join the orchestra on this evening to perform Gershwin’s ‘Rhapsody
in Blue.’

Taking place on Wednesday the 19th and Thursday the 20th of June is the third and final
programme that is part of the 2024 Cork Proms. ‘There’s No Place Like Home’ will see the
orchestra and soloists perform musical theatre numbers from ‘Wicked’, ‘The Sound of
Music’, ‘Dear Evan Hansen’, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’,
and some “surprises along the
way” –
apparently!

Soloists on these 2 nights include Killian Donnelly, Majella Cullagh, Molly Lynch, Shane O’Riordan, and Claire O’Leary. If you fancy the sound of one night in particular or all of them, more information and tickets can be found here.
