There’s an open air cinema coming to Cork City Gaol next month

And they’re showing two absolute CLASSICS!

The Scenic Cinema is back for another cinematic weekend this June, and this time they’re screening at the historic Cork City Gaol.

The brand new mobile cinema first popped up in Cork last month with their sell-out Harry Potter Weekender event at the Marina Market, promising to bring incredible movies to unique locations across Cork city and county this summer, and their next event is no exception.

Taking place outdoors behind the high walls in the gardens of the iconic Cork City Gaol, the Scenic Cinema will be screening The Greatest Showman for the family, and The Shawshank Redemption for the adults – talk about a fitting location!

The Greatest Showman (2017 – top) and The Shawshank Redemption (1994 – bottom)

The screenings will take place on the 18th and 19th of June, times as follows:

Saturday June 18th

5pm – 6:45pm – The Greatest Showman

8pm – 10:15pm – The Shawshank Redemption

Sunday June 19th

5pm – 6:45pm – The Greatest Showman

8pm – 10:15pm – The Shawshank Redemption

Visitors are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets, or camping chairs for the events, and also have the option to upgrade to the VIP section which includes comfy seating. Tickets start from €13 and are available vie the Scenic Cinema website here, and are expected to sell out fast due to limited capacity.

(Ticket does not include entry to the Gaol museum, and visitors are advised to arrive 15-30 mins prior to movie start time. Limited parking is also available on-site, along with a taxi drop-off.)
