The Scenic Cinema is back by popular demand at Cork City Gaol

The Scenic Cinema is back for another cinematic weekend this August, screening some absolute classics.

The brand new mobile cinema first popped up in Cork back in May with their sell-out Harry Potter Weekender event at the Marina Market, followed by two open-air screenings at Cork City Gaol the following month.

Taking place outdoors behind the high walls in the gardens of the iconic Cork City Gaol next month, the Scenic Cinema will be screening two family classics The Lion King (1994 original) and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (how fitting!)

For the adults, they’ll also have very special screening of Michael Collins! August marks 100 years since his death, and as we commemorate the centenary of his death, we are screening the 1996 movie starring Liam Neeson.

Bring a picnic, a blanket or a camp chair, or sit in the VIP section with a comfy seat, and enjoy these movies on the big screen, outdoors in the fresh summer air. Tickets are on sale via their website here, but are likely to sell out fast due to high levels of interest and a limited capacity, so get booking!

Please note:

Your ticket DOES NOT get you entry into the Gaol museum and is for the outdoor cinema only. Arrive 15-30 mins before the movie start time. Do not arrive before this please. Gates will open 30 minutes prior to movie start time. There is limited free parking available, and also a taxi drop off point directly outside. For Bus from the city, take route 208 to Western Rd (UCC Castlewhite) and walk 15 mins to the Gaol via ‘The Shaky Bridge’
