This new Cork event will show how the fashion industry impacts the environment

Republic of Work will be hosting the interactive evening

A new event organised by Republic of Work will be coming to Cork in November, highlighting the impact of the fashion industry on the environment.

‘Future of Fashion 2023 & Beyond’ marks Republic of Work’s first link up with the 2050 Sustainability Ecosystem, an initiative which aims to bring people together to focus on climate action, through workshops, roundtable discussions and an annual forum. 

The upcoming ‘Future of Fashion 2030 & Beyond’ takes place on Thursday November 9th, and will look at how we think about our planet and lifestyle, putting a spotlight on the textile and apparel industry as an area where consumer trends have significantly shifted. Guest speakers will take a deeper look at themes such as material innovation, circular fashion; and smart design and production.  

Eshna Gogia, Programme Manager at Republic of Work, which will host ‘Future of Fashion 2030 & Beyond’ on Thursday November 9th, an event that will look at how we think about our planet and lifestyle, putting a spotlight on the textile and apparel industry. 

Speakers on the night include eco-conscious entrepreneurs Tom Cotter CEO of OceanR, a diverse group of highly skilled people who have come together from all over the world to help make a positive change to our oceans; Jack Norman, co-founder of Zirkulu, a company that sells responsibly made outdoor clothing; and Shana Chu, Founder and CEO of Tailr, a cloud-based platform that simplifies the garment production process. 

Looking ahead to the event, Eshna Gogia, Programme Manager at Republic of Work said: “As a society we are moving from mindless consumption to mindful purchasing – people are looking to move away from fast fashion and are seeking responsibly made materials.”

‘Future of Fashion, 2023 & Beyond’ takes place between 5pm and 8pm on Thursday November 9th. It’s a free event but registration is necessary. For more information see www.eventbrite.ie. Finger food, refreshments and drinks will be served on the night.
