New Years Eve won’t be the same this year.
With the current restrictions in place, bars and restaurants in Ireland must close their doors at midnight, with last call in most places at around 11:30pm.
As you can imagine, the countdown to midnight might seem rather anti-climactic this year, and the New Year’s night out just won’t be the same.
To make up for the loss of our beloved countdown, this Cork bar has come up with a clever alternative. Sketch cocktail bar on Pembroke Street will be ringing in New Years around the world, on the hour, every hour.
Starting from 6pm, there will be an hourly countdown to celebrate New Years in the following worldwide cities:
- 6pm – Bangkok
- 7pm – Maldives
- 8pm – Dubai
- 9pm – Moscow
- 10pm – Capetown
- 11pm – Paris
That’ll do, Sketch, that’ll do.
The resident DJ Xero will be banging out the choons from 5:30pm – 11:30pm in the brand new cocktail bar, which will be serving a selection of sharing platters served in ornate birdcages, along with an elaborate list of gourmet cocktails (our Craveourite is the ‘Princess Grace’!)
There will be a mixture of walk-ins and bookings accepted on the night – online bookings can be made in advance via the Imperial Hotel website, here.
In addition to this, Thyme at Seventy-Six on the Mall (located next door) will be serving their regular A La Carte menu on New Years Eve, and will have a special pre-midnight celebration to ring in the New Year (PS. they’ll also be serving complimentary glasses of prosecco for the ladies on Women’s Little Christmas!)
