Munster Technological University (MTU) has just been awarded funding of €1,380,233 to provide programme progression pathways for students with intellectual disabilities.
The funding is awarded under the HEA Programme for Access to Higher Education (PATH) 4 Phase 2 (2023-2025). This significant achievement will enhance opportunities within a higher education setting for students with intellectual disabilities by facilitating progression to MTU and personal and life skills development. Work experience and work readiness opportunities will be a core component of MTU programme progression pathways in the southwest region for students with intellectual disabilities.
Combined with our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, this funding sees MTU’s strategic application of universal design advance the provision of higher education opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities. Creating a safe learning space for students to reach their potential is a central pillar of MTU’s Strategic Plan.
MTU progression pathways for students with intellectual disabilities are the result of close working relationships and consultation with students, their families and community agencies across the southwest region bringing an innovative response to identified needs.
