The coveted MII ball is back (and this year it’s 80’s themed!)

It’s that time of year again

The Marketing Institute Ireland (MII), Cork branch is revving up the DeLorian this year as
they prepare to escort Cork’s business and marketing community back to the era of
electronic music, yuppies, and big hair with the Back to the 80’s Ball!

Blasting off at 6pm on Saturday March 9th at Vienna Woods Hotel, Cork, attendees are
encouraged to dress to impress in their finest black-tie attire with a stylish 80s twist. Guests
will be treated to an incredible line up of fun, entertainment, and the chance to network and
celebrate among their peers in the marketing community as they celebrate with this blast
from the past.

Launched by MII Cork Ball Chair, Leigh Gillen, Leigh Gillen Events, the Back to the 80’s Ball
will be a night of glamour, great music and good vibes, all while raising funds for an
extremely worthy Cork based charity, Cork Cancer Care Centre.

The night will begin with a Disaronno drinks reception (compliments of the super rad drinks
partner, Barry & Fitzwilliam) to the backdrop of a wicked DJ spinning the hottest tracks
capturing the essence of the era.

Colm O’ Sullivan from Cork’s RedFM will be MC for the night, as guests enjoy a sumptuous four-course feast with wine, before dancing the night away to floor fillers from iconic Spring Break- Europe’s premier good time supergroup, closing out with DJ set.

The infamous MII Ball goody bag (worth over €150!), will be jam packed with goodies to take home, and for those feeling lucky, the MII Cork team have been sourcing incredible prizes for the raffle, with all proceeds going directly to Cork Cancer Care Centre.

Speaking in advance of the ball, Leigh Gillen, Leigh Gillen Events, and MII Cork Ball Chair said, “We cannot wait to go Back to the 80s on March 9 th at the MII Cork Ball 2024. The committee have been pulling out all the stops to ensure our goody bag and raffle are better than ever, and our entertainment this year is second to none.”

Cork Cancer Care Centre, based on Paul Street, Cork, provide services such as counselling, a range of complimentary therapies (such as Reiki, Reflexology, access bars, Integrated Energy Therapy, Indian Head Massage, Lymphatic Drainage) and a drop-in centre during the day for all people affected by cancer.

Linda Goggin James, CEO, Cork Cancer Care Centre continued “We are thrilled to be the chosen charity for MII Cork’s 2024 Ball. Facing cancer is one of the scariest things we will go through – for both the patient, and their loved ones. Our goal is to create a safe space for them by providing information, therapies, and support groups. The funds raised by the raffle at the MII Cork Ball will go directly towards supporting the work we do in our centre – a ‘home away from home,’ for many during their darkest time. We have been privy to some of the prizes, and there are brilliant ones up for grabs”.

Such a spectacular occasion takes several months of preparation and planning by key personnel on the MII Cork Committee. The ever-generous sponsors for this year’s Back to the 80’s Ball are Johnson and Perrot Motor Group (Car Sponsor), B2B Print and B2B Signs (design & print partner), Cork’s RedFM (broadcast partner), Barry & Fitzwilliam (drinks sponsor), Hopkins Communications (PR & communications partner), GM Media Solutions (video sponsor), Peter P. Photograph (photography sponsor) and the Clayton Cork City (accommodation sponsor).
