It’s been 15 years since his passing
Proving that there’s still ‘no show like a Joe show,’ Ballymaloe Grainstore in East Cork will remember Joe Dolan, one of Ireland’s greatest singers, at a special tribute concert on Thursday 2 November.
15 years since his passing in 2007, his music is as popular as ever. The Dolan Family has been touring venues around Ireland with ‘Remembering Joe – the 15th Anniversary Tour’ and delighting fans with the Mullingar man’s greatest hits such as ‘You’re Such a Good Looking Woman,’ ‘Make me an Island’ and ‘Goodbye Venice Goodbye.’
Joe Dolan’s legendary career spanned several decades and saw him collaborate with the biggest names of his time from the 1960s showbands right up to stars of the early 21st century. He reached new audiences in the 1990s with a hugely successful cover of Blur’s ‘The Universal.’
The concert at Ballymaloe Grainstore will feature Joe’s brother Ben, who shared the stage with the singer for 47 years. Ben will be joined by Joe’s niece Sandra, nephews Adrian and Ray; singer Karen Carroll; and members of Joe’s original band, to perform hit after hit from the singer’s back catalogue.
Bree Allen, Operations Manager at Ballymaloe Grainstore, says a very special night lies ahead: “Joe Dolan and his amazing repertoire of songs are held so fondly in the hearts of Irish people. Ballymaloe Grainstore is a fantastic concert venue and we’ve hosted brilliant artists over the years. We look forward to welcoming the Dolan family and their audience here on November 2nd for a huge night of nostalgia and a great sing-along.”
‘Remembering Joe – The 15th Anniversary Tour’ takes place at 8pm on Thursday 2 November. To book tickets and find out about special accommodation packages and dining options at Ballymaloe House Hotel, visit www.ballymaloegrainstore.com.
