Fancy getting fit & meeting new friends? Here’s a list of Cork’s run clubs

On your marks, get set!

That new pair of runners you got at Christmas is still probably in its box, is it? Well, dust it
off, get on those runners, and get out there!

Especially with the good weather during the summer, now is the perfect time to join a run club near you if you’ve always been curious about it, if you want to increase your mileage, or if you’re just looking for the chats.

Here are 5 different groups that meet up in various locations in Cork. Three, two, one – and
they’re off!

Name: Croissant Run Club
Location: Cork City
Instagram: @croissantrunclubcorkcity
About: Even just the name alone makes us want to sign up! Croissant Run Club meets every Sunday for a 3km run from The Marina Market to The Grumpy Bakers on Washington Street. What’s better motivation than a delish pastry at the end of your run?

Name: West Cork Running Club
Location: Clonakilty/Bandon
Instagram: @westcorkrunningclub
About: Another run club with a food-focused finish is a massive green flag for us! You can check out West Cork Running Club’s monthly schedule on their Instagram; previous runs have featured trips to the likes of Wazzy Woo, West Cork Coffee Brew Bar, and Oak Fire Pizza.

Name: Frontrunners & Briskwalkers Cork
Location: Cork City
Instagram: @frbwcork
About: Cork’s LGBTQ+-inclusive running and walking group is a great chance to get moving and grooving, especially during Pride month. As well as running and walking, this group offers yoga sessions, meet ups, and plenty of chats, of course!

Name: Runday Club Cork
Location: Cork City
Instagram: @rundayclubcork
About: Take a look at their Instagram and you instantly know that Runday Club Cork means business. They’ve done previous collaborations with Lululemon, Brooks, and plenty snacks and drinks for afterwards, so you should definitely lace your runners up and join them! Join their WhatsApp group to stay in the loop about future runs and events.

Name: Butter Running Club
Location: Cork City
Instagram: @butterrunclub
About: You’ll be running ‘smooth like butter’ as Butter Running Club’s Instagram bio says – hopefully without any sticky or slippy runs! The group meets on Sundays (9:30am) and Tuesdays (6:30am and 6:30pm), and there’s always a coffee or two to be had in Cortado afterwards to debrief. Who says butter isn’t good for you? One thing’s for sure: Butter Running Club certainly is a healthy option!
