To celebrate the launch of their brand new Crumble hatch in the city, the good folks over at Sweet Spot will be giving away FREE pots of their delicious apple crumble on Monday.
And now incase you’re wondering what Sweet Spot is, let us explain.
Sweet Spot is Cork’s newest bakery founded by talented local chef Dominic Fouhy. Having completed a pasty course last year in Asia, Dominic set up his own catering company supplying local businesses with cakes and pastries before opening up his very own bakery inside the old Ticketmaster office in Merchant’s Quay Shopping Centre.
The Sweet Spot bakery has only been open for two months but has already become a favourite amongst sweet-toothed Leesiders, supplying everything from gourmet croissants, indulgent cheesecakes and mouth-watering brownies.
Shortly after opening Sweet Spot, Dominic decided to bring something truly unique to the City and opened up a brand new takeaway crumble hatch alongside his bakery, and we can not stress enough how delicious these little pots of heaven are!
The crumble pots consist of a base layer of either caramelised apple or poached berries, then a layer of baked crumble, and topped off with your choice of custard, crème brûlée, blow-touched Italian meringue, ice cream, or whipped creme, to name but a few (TAKE.MY.MONEY!)
Speaking to Craving Cork about the new venture, Head Chef Dominic mentions:
“When I was starting off on the business, a friend mentioned to me about a place over in London called ‘Humble Crumble’ which was blowing up in the food scene, so I checked it out and flew over there to see what they were doing and decided I wanted to do a version of it here in Cork.
“Crumble has always been one of the most popular desserts here in Ireland and we are now doing an updated modern version of it, along with a beautiful selection of ice creams that are produced here in Cork, banana splits, and vegan and gluten free options.”
To celebrate the launch of the new crumble hatch, Sweet Spot will be offering FREE crumbles this Monday July 3rd from Merchants Quay shopping centre from 2pm – 5pm (or till stock lasts!)
