Say it isn’t true!
Cork’s most beloved gelato shop, Casanova Gelato, today announced the closure of their city centre premises. The gelateria, which was first opened by Italian couple Barbara and Andrea back in 2016, has become a favourite for many Corkonians over the last 6 years.
They’ve really made a name for themselves in the city centre due to their authentic, hand-made gelato, mouth-watering treats and exceptional customer service, and if you’ve ever driven past their blue + white shop on the corner at George’s Quay, you best believe there’ll be a massive line stretching as far as the eye can see.
But sadly, this will be their last summer at George’s Quay – the building is being sold and they were unable to renew their lease. Taking to social media to make the announcement this morning, the shop mentions:
“Dear customers, with a heavy heart, we announce that this summer will be our last at George’s Quay. Unfortunately, we’re unable to renew our lease as the building is being sold, and we are currently seeking alternative locations.
If you or anyone you know has suggestions for a new city location, commercial or industrial unit, please drop us a message. Make the most of our last summer here at George’s Quay! Thanks from all the team at Casanova Gelato.”
Speaking to Craving Cork about the closure, Barbara mentions:
“I hope that we will be able to find a suitable location to give Casanova Gelato a new home. I can’t imagine going through my day without the smiles of my customers. I will always be thankful for the welcome we get here in Cork.”
Husband Andrea adds “I hope we can find a solution to this situation. It would be a shame not to be able to bring smiles to our customers’ faces like we have been doing for the last six years.”
