If you haven’t tried an escape room yet, then you really are missing out. Escape rooms are intense, scary and fun, all at the same time, and they’re a fantastic way to challenge your cognitive, problem-solving, and communication skills.

But what exactly are they, you ask?

An escape room, also known as an escape game, is an activity whereby a team of up to six players gets locked into a room for a set period of time (usually 60 minutes). The goal is to escape the room by analysing a series of clues, puzzles, props and red herrings (elements of the room that may distract you), to ultimately find the missing key and escape before the time runs out.

Escape rooms are designed for team work, and in order to escape, you must apply your skills of communication, organisation and creative thinking, so that the players can enjoy a fully immersive experience.

WeEscape, one of Cork’s most popular escape rooms, has just launched a brand new Addams Family-themed escape room, and we couldn’t be more obsessed! They don’t give away any information about their escape rooms, in order to keep the mystery and challenge intact, but we can only imagine how cool the Addams Family room would be.

“Everything may seem normal once you are inside, but upon closer inspection you may find strange and puzzling clues hidden throughout. You must search and explore, team-up and inspect every inch in order to obtain all necessary clues.”

Teams can be anywhere between two – six people, and most rooms are 60 minutes long. Prices start at €25 per person for a room of 2, €20 per person for a room of 3, €17.50 for a room of 4, €16 for 5 and €15 each for a room of 6.

Does this sound like it would be up your alley? Planning a date with a difference this weekend? You can book online via the WeEscape website here (Addams Family is listed under Sherlock Holmes), and the building is located at 36 Mary Street.
