Another incredible burger joint for the city!
If you’re a fan of gourmet burgers, you’ll be glad to know that West Cork’s most popular burger joint is about to open in the city tomorrow, and we’ve got the inside scoop.
What started as a small pop-up in Schull during the pandemic has fast become one of the most talked about burger restaurants in West Cork. Yay Burger specialises in gourmet burgers, tasty brunch bits, zesty salads and tantalising sides. They currently have two locations – one in Ballydehob and one in Clonakilty and they’re about to open their third eatery in the heart of Cork city. Weak!
Speaking to Craving Cork about their venture, co-founder Gemma mentions:
“We started a small pop up restaurant in Schull, West Cork during the dreaded C to provide some food for the lads at Hackett’s. We had no notions that it would turn into a business but we did know that if we were going to do it we were going to do it with passion and with a massive emphasis on making sure everything was made in house with quality ingredients and to be made as delicious as it could be!
“We didn’t know what costs were, what margins meant and the rota was written on the back of a beer mat. Two and half years later and we’ve managed to extend our little family to 3 locations, with awards and national press accolades along the way. Sure we’re still only chancing it but we’re delighted to be doing so.”
Their beef patties are made fresh by hand every day, and they only use locally sourced West Cork dry aged beef and Irish chicken from award winning butcher Michael Twomey’s. All of their takeaway boxes are 100% compostable too, and they use as little plastic as possible throughout their entire operation.
So, where exactly will they be in the city, you ask?
