This Cork hotel just got a major facelift, and just in time for Valentine’s Day

It’s the floating roses for me.

The iconic Imperial Hotel has been a timeless landmark in the heart of Cork city for over 200 years, making history as Cork’s very first hotel (can you believe it?)

The boutique hotel, also known as ‘The Great Dame’ of Cork is renowned for its extravagant lobby entrance, which is fully kitted out with marble floors, a grand staircase and one of the most luxurious chandeliers we’ve ever seen.

Over the past few weeks, the Imperial Hotel lobby has undergone a total makeover, and the new look was unveiled to the public this week, complete with a cascade of floating roses for Valentine’s Day.

Take a look at the before & after!

And the love doesn’t stop there.

They’ve also created a brand new ‘All you need is love‘ themed afternoon tea, designed by the hotel’s talented pastry team who are renowned for their culinary talents and aesthetic creations.

This three-tiered culinary delight includes a selection of savoury bites, featuring an Ardsallagh goats cheese and roast pepper tart, poached hens’ egg with crispy pancetta in a brioche bun, and salted beef with blue cheese and walnut, to name but a few.

Save room for dessert? It also comes packed with a selection of sweet goodies, including the Pornstar Martini verrine filled with an explosion of passionfruit, a miniature strawberry & baileys Swiss roll, and a glazed berry heart (which almost looks too good to eat!)

Are you drooling yet? Because we most certainly are. You can view the full afternoon tea menu here.

SO, if all of that was enough to get you in the romantic spirit, the Imperial Hotel currently has a special Valentine’s Day room offer, which includes one of the following complimentary with your bed & breakfast rate:

  • Dinner for 2 at Thyme restaurant on a night of your choice
  • Romantic turndown on a night of choice
  • Valentines Afternoon tea for 2 in the Tea Room
  • Birdcage cheese and charcuterie platter + 4 cocktails in Sketch

Sound tempting? You can make a reservation here, or you can call the hotel directly at 021 427 4040.

(PS: they also have a discreet Special Occasion Butler to assist with your extra special date, or even a proposal. Butler James will give you advice and tips on how to plan the perfect proposal, along with a list of the most romantic spots to take your significant other in Cork. You can book a consultation with James by emailing events@imperialhotelcork.ie).
