Christmas has officially come early.
The Grumpy Bakers, a much loved gourmet bakery based in Midleton, will be opening their second premises tomorrow (Wednesday 1st)… and it’s bang smack in the heart of Cork city!
In case you didn’t know, The Grumpy Bakers is an insanely popular artisan bakery known for their incredible sourdough bread and mouth-watering pastries. They opened their first bakery back in August 2020, and it became an instant hit with the locals of Midleton.
Born out of a lifetime of baking and a passion for quality, artisan produce, couple Sharon Gleeson and Cathal O’Mahony put in countless early mornings and late nights to make their dream a reality. Sharon took the plunge and quit her teaching job to pursue her passion, and the hard work is clearly paying off as she gets ready to open her second bakery in the city tomorrow.
Much to our delight, the new bakery will be located in the heart of Cork city, at No. 2 Washington Street. Sharon and the team will be serving up some of the finest handmade sourdough breads and pastries, using local, organic ingredients. The hard-working team of bakers rise before 1am (yes, you read that correctly!), taking no shortcuts to ensure the bakery is flooded with freshly baked produce, just in time for breakfast.
Our Craveourites have to be the seeded sourdough bread, the almond croissant and the cinnamon morning bun. The new shop will open its doors at 7:30am sharp, so be sure to swing by for a coffee and a cake or three.
