A new Tanora-flavoured beer launches in Cork this weekend

We all know someone who’d love this!

Original 7 Beverage Co have teamed up with Tanora to create the perfect summer beer for Corkonians – Tanora Pale Ale!

This tangerine-flavoured Pale Ale was formulated by Head Brewer, Páidí Scully, taking inspiration from the classic Cork tangerine beverage. A mix of Irish Ale Malt, Crystal Malt, Wheat Malt and Roasted Barley have been selected to give the beer it’s colour, emulating the orange-red hue of Tanora and the hops of Magnum, Ozacca, Mosaic, Mandarina Bavaria and Simcoe replicate that tangerine hit.

This refreshing summer beer is a Limited Edition brew from the guys at Original 7 Beverage Co whose core range includes Revolution IPA, Hazy Pale Ale, Wonderland Red, Rockafeller Weisse and Irish Lager. Managing Director, Steve Guiney, tells us that the beer will be launched in 20 of Original 7’s key accounts over the May Bank Holiday Weekend.

Speaking to Craving Cork about the new beer, Steve tells us how he delved into the inspiration behind the partnership with Tanora – “Tanora is a drink that for me is synonymous with growing up in Cork in the 90s. In particular, the summer months. The nostalgia is off the charts whenever I see a bottle of it!

“While thinking of recipes for our next special brew, I figured, why not emulate the quintessential Cork beverage and create a tangerine flavoured Pale Ale. I contacted the guys in Tanora to see if they would be happy to partner up with us on this and they were so helpful all the way!”

The team behind Tanora are just as excited about the partnership, Shane McQuaid Coca-Cola HBC, Brands Marketing Manager said:

“We are incredibly proud of Tanora and the special place it has in Cork, so we were thrilled to work with Original 7. Coming into the summer months, Tanora has delicious flavours, and we love how Original 7 have brought those flavours through Tanora Pale Ale. I want to congratulate Steve and his team in Original 7 for the Tanora Pale Ale they created, we can’t wait for beer drinkers in Cork to taste it.”

Of course, there are historical and geographical links between the two brands also! Tanora was first formulated in John Daly and Co – Mineral Bottlers based on Kyrl’s Quay, only a couple of hundred metres from Original 7’s base on the North Mall. Brewing, Distilling and Bottling is synonymous with the history of that area and it is fitting to see old neighbours partner together in the modern age. The old entrance to the John Daly and Co Bottling Plant can still be seen on Kyrl’s Quay near the rear entrance to the North Main St Shopping Centre.

Founder, Shane Long, hopes that Tanora Pale Ale will be the next medal winner at this year’s World Beer Awards and Blas Na hÉireann. “We had an unbelievably successful year last year at our first ever beer awards winning Gold, Silver and Bronze in the World Beer Awards and Silver in Blas Na hÉireann. I’m certain this beer can compete at the highest levels, and I am looking forward to the feedback from the people of Cork!”

Tanora Pale Ale launches on Friday May 3 rd to celebrate the official start to the summer! Find out where to get it on www.original7.ie/tanorapalealetrail.
