All you need to know about Macroom Food Festival next week

It’s set to be a weekend of food, crafts, and good vibes!

Get ready to feast this September because the Macroom Food Festival returns again this year on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of this month! It’ll be a feast for all the senses with local, artisan food and drinks, crafts, street theatre, family fun, and lots more.

This year’s line-up looks promising, with plenty to do and keep you busy over the weekend. There are loads of different events packed into the two-day festival, so keep reading to see if anything tickles your fancy!

On Saturday, the kids’ entertainment zone will be open in the Square from 10am onwards. How about leaving your kiddies there while you enjoy a nice coffee and pastry – we won’t tell anyone, promise!

The festival will take place o Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September

Then at 12:30pm there’ll be an international parade, led by the Ballingeary Pipe Band. Following that, there’s an event at 1pm in the Square called ‘Celebrating Multiculturalism Through Food’, which is definitely worth checking out! And if that wasn’t enough, there’s a pre-concert event with cheese and wine tastings in Pop Crowley’s at 6:30pm, followed by the Lee Valley Entertainers at 8pm in the Briery Gap.

Sunday’s events include a kids’ cooking class with the Cool Food School at 11am – tickets must be pre-booked for this event, by the way. Then, starting at midday, there’s the monster street food and craft market. With music, entertainment, and carnival rides, there’s plenty to do on the Sunday that’ll keep the kids busy – and the big kids, too!

One of the main elements of this year’s festival is the Good Vibes Forum. This event will emphasise this year’s theme of sustainability in food production, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn from a comprehensive list of speakers and exhibitors. This will take place on Saturday from 10am – 1pm.

Lastly, the Danone Schools Cork Off Competition will take place from 12pm at the Square, so I hope you’ll be able to handle the heat!

Let’s hope the weather will be good for the Macroom Food Festival on the 21st and 22nd. If not, at least we know the food will be delish!
