Ahoy, mateys!
Simply named Fish, the takeaway can be found at 45 MacCurtain Street, the same location where The Fish Wife used to be for 12 years.
As a result, the location already has connotations of delicious fish and chips! With chefs Chris Prinsloo, Jerome Williamson, and David Halpin Jnr involved, there’s no doubt that Cork’s newest seafood takeaway will go swimmingly.
Related to the famous Eco in Douglas, this takeaway is open 7 days a week and currently has a special offer of €10 fish and chips throughout Lent – running from Monday to Friday, from 1pm to 4pm.
The menu at Fish features traditional fish ‘n’ chips like haddock, whiting, hake, and cod, all served with triple-cooked chips, peas, and tartar or curry sauce. The options on the contemporary section of the menu are all chargrilled on lava rock; you certainly don’t get that in your average chipper!
Do you fancy a swordfish steak with grilled baby potatoes, dehydrated cherry tomato, and harissa sauce? Or maybe butterfly prawns with lemon rice kohlrabi pickle, parsley, and garlic butter is more your vibe.
On top of that, Fish’s ‘street’ menu section has options like a fish or chicken spice box as well as scampi. There are also Eco’s classics, such as their double smash beef burger and chips or their chicken curry with rice or chips. With a combination of modern twists and unbeatable classics, it’s no doubt that Fish on MacCurtain street is a welcome addition to Cork City.
