Designed by Cork County Council and taking up residence in the Old Mill building in Church Square, which dates back to the 19th century, the new library features a lower ground level entrance space, a gallery exhibition area, a children’s area, a mezzanine area with stunning woodwork and natural skylights, an adults and study area and a digital facilities suite.

Along with this, the new library also has five times more books than the previous, increasing from 5,000 books to over 25,000 books, along with the addition of the My Open Library service which will extend the self-service opening hours from 8am – 10pm, 365 days a year.
