Get ready for the Kinsale Literary Festival happening this October

Calling all literary folk!

Have you been to the lovely seaside town of Kinsale over the summer? If you haven’t, now you definitely have a good reason to go in just over a month!

The Kinsale Literary Festival returns this year from the 3rd to the 6thof October. With the title ‘Words by Water’, this not-for-profit festival is committed to promoting the best in Irish and international writing to all sections of the local and wider community. As well as that, the organisers of the festival aim to promote new writing, engage with local authors, and encourage reading and writing among young people.

This year’s programme features a great mix of talks on fiction, non-fiction, poetry, topics of local interest, workshops, and a children’s programme. And for anyone who isn’t the biggest fan of reading but is being dragged along to the festival by a family member, there are loads of nice cafés, restaurants, and shops around Kinsale to discover!

‘Words by Water’ which will take place Thursday October 3rd

Some of the events taking place as part of the 2024 literary festival programme include Davy Russell in conversation with Gemma Tipton on Thursday 3rd of October at 7:30pm. Russell will be discussing his career as a National Hunt jockey as well as his book “My Autobiography”.

Friday 4th of October at 3:30pm will see an afternoon of storytelling with Alice Taylor. Get your ticket now to join Taylor as she speaks about her decades of writing about rural Ireland – plus, there’ll be tea and scones provided!

Lastly, the big event of the weekend will be an evening with Marian Keyes and Tara Flynn. You definitely know Keyes, who is an internationally bestselling author; Flynn co-hosts the BBC Radio4/BBC Sounds comedy podcast “Now You’re Asking” with Marian Keyes and is an actor and writer for theatre, radio, and TV.
