Start the weekend off with a slice.
Cork’s newest pizzeria officially opens to the public tomorrow following their soft launch opening last week.
Setting up shop at the glass kiosk on the boardwalk on Grand Parade (just outside Electric Bar), ‘Frankie’s’ is a brand-new 70’s inspired New York style pizzeria. The kiosk was previously a coffee shop and creperie and has been unoccupied since 2019.
The owners of Frankie’s are no strangers to the pizza game and have been operating pizzerias in Cork for almost two decades. Opened by the owners of Palmento in Douglas and La Tana pizzeria on Barrack Street, Frankie’s will have more of a grab & go ‘slice shop’ vibe.
The Tavolieri family specialise in freshly made Neapolitan-style pizza using fresh, local produce and they’ve become a huge favourite with Corkonians over the years. Their new pizza place has been two years in the making and takes inspiration from authentic slice shops in Rome and New York, offering staples such as N’duja and Stracciatella squares with hot honey drizzle.
Frankie’s is sure to be a hit in one of Cork’s busiest locations – they’ll have both grab & go options as well as outdoor seating overlooking the River Lee so its no doubt they’re going to be chock-a-block all summer long.
The new slice shop opens tomorrow Friday May 5th at 1pm so be sure to check them out.
