There’s a free kids music festival in the city this weekend

A great way for them to kick-start the summer holidays!

Rhyme Island, The Kabin Studio and Music Generation Cork City have partnered with Cork City Council for a free, fun-filled day of youth music-making, performances and creativity at Elizabeth Fort this weekend.

Taking place on Saturday 10th June, ‘Rock the Block’ will showcase a wide range of talented local musicians which include performances by talented young hip hop artists and rappers from across Ireland in a special Rhyme Island rap showcase.

The event will feature the likes of Cruinniú na nÓg youth ambassadors Jamie ‘The King’ Forde (The Kabin Studio) and Ciara Cremin (Music Mash Up, Mayfield UBU) and collaborations with Music Generation Cork City around the city including Creative Tradition, Music Mash Up, Foróige Linkpoint Knocknaheeny, Mahon Youth Development Project UBU, The Hut Youth Project CDYS, Mahon Community Pop Academy, Mahon Community Concert Band, and Cork Academy of Music.

Also happening on the day will be the live debut of “Music Gives Me a Reason,” a brand new collaborative song and music video set to be released in June 2023 – this tune is sure to be the sound of your summer!

The day will be packed with a variety of youth music workshops, including rap & beats and songwriting, specifically tailored for young people, as well as traditional Irish music workshops.
