REVIEW: Here’s how we got on at the Eccles Hotel & Spa

This is an ideal staycation getaway!

Summer might be well and truly over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to a cheeky staycation. We were kindly invited to experience the Eccles Hotel and Spa over in Glengarriff last weekend; here’s how we got on!

The Eccles Hotel is situated in the picturesque village of Glengarriff overlooking Bantry Bay, just over an hours drive from the city. We arrived to a stunning room overlooking Glengarriff Harbour with high ceilings, a modern bathroom, comfy beds and a bottle of Prosecco on ice (off to a great start!)

We then headed down to the spa for our treatments. It’s worth noting that the spa is also open to non-residents, and their main focus is on holistic wellbeing, nourishment and betterment of mind and body.

Our spa experience began with a private 25-minute hot tub with complimentary Prosecco and homemade chocolates. The hot tubs are located outside on a private terrace overlooking the bay, and honestly it was one of the most relaxing experiences we’ve ever had!

After this, we headed over to our seaweed bath. Situated next to the hot tubs were two large wooden baths, one filled with seaweed and one with cold water, and a large wooden sauna. The idea here is to spend some time in the warm seaweed bath, extracting the algae oils from the tips of the seaweed, before moving on to the sauna, and finishing with a cold dunk in the ice bath.

We were then taken into the relaxation room to chill out before getting our treatments; a warming trio massage followed by a 55-minute facial using VOYA products, and let me tell you we were absolutely GLOWING afterwards!

After our treatments, we headed back to our room to freshen up before dinner. We headed down to the restaurant and were given an outdoor seat on the terrace overlooking the harbour at sunset, and it was pure bliss.

We went for the scallops and goats cheese to start, the featherblade beef and monkfish for mains and the chocolate fudge cake and apple crumble for dessert. The food was exceptional and the service was even better, and it’s worth noting again that the restaurant is also open to non-residents.

All in all, our stay at the Eccles was incredible and we’d highly recommend checking them out. You can find out more over on their website here.
